We enjoyed lunch at the Tally Ho. 2 courses for £11 is pretty good value. The special spicey soup was really good and had a strong kick of chilli, while the fishcake was really tasty. My main course of local sausages was a real disappointment....2 small, and I do mean small, bangers, some mash and not much else. My wife's steak in a rich sauce with plenty of chips was much better. A good pint of real ale made our experience that much more relaxing. Whilst the restaurant was a little cool, the friendly attentive staff made us welcome. Well worth a visit...but beware the sausages!!
Would have rated this 5 stars, as it was a most excellent and good value (for the quality) lunch we had there recently on our first visit. However, it loses a mark for advertising itself as providing sandwiches and bar snacks, which it no longer does. We'd called in just for that after a long walk in the area and felt quite cheated when it was a proper meal or nothing, and even more disappointing that they didn't sell ginger beer, only little mixer bottles of ginger ale - not at all thirst-slaking. However, we ordered light lunches off the blackboard and the food was utterly superb and I was beyond mollified after eating quite the best by far Caesar salad I've ever munched (and I've eaten many, all over the country, including at top London restaurants), with huge volumes of fantastically seasoned and perfectly cooked, tender breasts of cornfed chicken, garlic croutons and the rest a dream of how you always hope it will be but seldom is, dressing light and tangy and entirely unclaggy. To be recommended! They just need to stop saying they do food they don't serve and they can have 5 stars...
recently went to stay for a week, lovely service in the restaurant which has delectable food very flavoursome, the rooms were imaculate and i recommened it with no hesitation!
Really quite dissapointing, especially given the prices charged.
Not up to scratch with the overall quality very lacking, even for ordinary 'pub grub.
You can find much better for far less I am afraid!!Not recommended even for a snack.
Came here recently & had a lovely evening, had the duck salad which was lovely - will be back
