The ViewNottingham Review
Living Room is one of the best bar/restaurants in Nottingham’s thriving Lace Market. Great for food, atmosphere and live music.
The Venue
Set in the heart of Nottingham’s cool Lace Market there is always something happening at The Living Room; from the cocktail making to the all singing, all dancing bar staff, to the live music. It’s a great place to eat or drink with lots of comfortable seating and space covering two floors. Although very modern it still retains original features like the wonderful beamed ceiling.
The People
Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays usually offer live bands or singers which can be great, but sometimes a little loud if you want to have any kind of conversation. It’s very busy during these times, too. That's if you get in past the very huge door security men. The Living Room does tend to attract the over 30s but all ages can be seen eating and drinking.
The Food
A very extensive and welcoming menu awaits: from sandwiches to steaks and suckling pigs. There is also a good incentive to share dishes like lamb or chocolate fondue with a loved one. The venue welcomes children and unlike a lot of the top-end restaurants there’s a decent children's menu, with prices at £6 for two courses and £7.50 for three. For good wholesome food this isn’t a bad price.
Generally the main courses cost between £7-£15 for adults, so its not going to break the bank. Every month they have a special offer on food from around the UK and this challenges you to try something different.
The Drink
The big attraction at the Living Room are the cocktails and the bar staff who make them. From fresh fruit based ones to Champagne fizzes, they have it all. There’s an extensive cocktail list which changes every month according to the fruits and wines in season. The wine list is good with bottles starting at £12.50.
The Last Word
A great, fun place to eat or drink. Go enjoy the music and atmosphere. Living Room is certainly not a place to miss, especially if you’re over 30.
