The ViewNottingham Review
Mention Hooters to almost anyone and what immediately springs to mind is girls wearing tight hot pants and low cut tops. Oh...and football.
Hooters is basically a lads mag cleverly disguised as a bar and restaurant, and it does it very, very well. The VenueThis is Nottingham’s second incarnation of Hooters, the previous one being sited where the NHS walk-in centre now stands. It is, however, the only Hooters in the UK.
Hooters is without doubt a visual delight for any red-blooded male, with many major sporting events aired on numerous screens and, of course, all the lovely ladies serving up food and drinks while wearing very little.
There's enough space for all to sit comfortably, but given that there are very few bars within walking distance, once this place gets busy it is highly likely it will stay that way for the duration of the evening.
The PeopleLet’s be honest, Hooters is almost entirely geared towards a good old-fashioned lads' night out and, frankly, there's nothing wrong with that.
You may see one or two female customers dotted about the place but the clientele is possibly 90 per cent male, sometimes en masse in the form of a stag party.
It has a great atmosphere, and although there is the odd inebriated bloke who fancies himself as a bit of a lothario and will try it on, generally all are well-behaved, which must be a relief for the girls who work there as it can’t be the easiest waiting job in the world.
The FoodThe menu at Hooters could hardly be described as salubrious, but then again a healthy bite is possibly not the first thing on the customers' minds here. They offer a very good range of all-American fare with a variety of chicken wings, burgers, steaks and seafood.
Everything is served in great sized portions and the prices are spot on. However, it may be advisable to seek out a cardiologist if you over-indulge.
The DrinkThe beer comes in bottles, pints, pitchers, however you want in fact. There’s a good selection of mainline spirits and prices don’t exceed what you would pay at any other central location.
The Last WordHooters makes no claims to be anything other than what it is, and as such does exactly what it says on the tin. If these kind of places offend you then it would be best advised to stay well away and leave it to the many guys who think Hooters is heaven.
