Laid-back vibes and healthy snacks await you at Fade.

The Venue
Fade (and The Hard to Find Cafe, to give it its full name) is located on Mansfield Road and it’s a bit of a walk, but one well worth the effort once you arrive. Fade is split on two levels with sofas and comfortable seating dotted around. In the middle is a raised seating area with tables and chairs surrounded by indoor foliage, which really sets this place apart when you sit down for a meal or a quiet drink.

The People
The clientele are a mixed bag of students and older people all socialising together to create a homely and settled vibe. The place very much caters to lounge-cafe-bar culture and the music that plays unobtrusively through the speakers is an eclectic blend of Portishead through to Brittany Spears, making this a place of very little pretence.

The Food
As with all cafe menus there is a healthy mix of salads, baguettes and light bites which are freshly served in large portions, with a generous helping of chips (if so desired). The baguettes are a popular choice with fillings of halloumi, hummus or cheese and ham, which will set you back around the £5 mark with all the trimmings. Every thing is freshly cooked and the flavour of the food dictates that you savour every bite and chill out in the venue’s ambience.

The Drink
Fade's Bar is stocked to the hilt with wines, spirits and bottled beers from around the world, again all at reasonable prices. Expect to pay around £2.50 for a spirit and mixer and standard prices apply for lagers and beers.

The Last Word
Fade is a calm and convenient place to put your feet up after a big shop in town, or before a big night out. It’s a great place to enjoy some good food and drink in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere, and remember if you get there early enough you can really take it easy on one of their voluminous sofas.
