We booked a meal for a group of 8 at Edins we have had a drink in there previous and promised our selves a nice meal, so we booked on the 11th of july, we ordered our food, and when we got it we were very dissapointed the bread was stale, small portions, my dad had ordered steak and chips which came in a bowl there was no trimmings and a very small steak, my mum ordered scrambled egg and salmon and she only got scrambled egg they forgot the salmon. I think it is over priced for a bowl of fries it £ 2.95 very over priced they were probably the nicest thing that we ate there, but I dont think you can get that wrong, avoid this cafe unless you want to pay very high prices for very poor food and quality
My wife and I popped into Edins one lunch time as it looked nice. We ordered a light lunch and some drinks, when the food came we mentioned to the waitress that one half of one of the baguettes was missing (a small thing to mention really, but half the sandwich wasn't there...). We both wished we'd never said anything as this comment (it wasn't even a complaint, just a comment….) upset the owner/chef who was extremely rude to both of us. At first he waved another baguette in our direction and shouted across the room at us and then we had the baguette virtually thrown at our table. Before we left it got worse as we tried to (calmly….) explain what we were unhappy about to the owner/chef; at this point he lost his temper and was shouting at us and not even listening to what we were trying to say. This upset my wife for the rest of the day as she hates being shouted at and feels terrible in such awful confrontations. As for the food the baguette was toasted to within an inch of it’s life and the filling was distinctly light (especially for £5.00….). Only go if you like poor food and being shouted at…..
My husband and I had dinner at Edins yesterday evening. We had previously been to Edins for lunch a few months ago and was impressed with the food, service and the ambience. As such we were keen to check out the place for dinner. We are pleased to see that Edins has maintained its standards. Last night, my husband had the gnocchi and I had the swordfish with mashed potatoes and red cabbage. The texture of the gnocchi was near perfect and well seasoned. The swordfish was tasty but slightly dry and could have done with more sauce to go with the mash. The service was friendly and prompt and both dishes were served piping hot.
I recently visited Edins whilst visiting clients and was pleasantly surprised to find this warm welcoming oasis.
The service was superb and although I only had brunch of bacon and scrambled eggs, I was thoroughly happy with the quality of the food. (Great eggs Edin).
I have been in-touch with Edin to offer him an alternative wine choice as I see the Enotria Wine Cellar range in many places, albeit they are nice wines (especially the Arpeggio Rosso).
I will definitely be visiting again for dinner this time. Very soon.

The food was average to be quite frank, and considering the size of the portions and price I left with a hole in my pocket AND a hole in my belly.
The only reason this gets two stars is due to the attentive and friendly waiting staff who never failed to do their best.
I would like to say I would give this place another try, but there are so many similar competitors in that area of Nottingham I'm sure I will find one better.
A very disappointing experience. We picked Edins as we were looking for a place with a nice relaxed ambiance serving good food. On arrival we were sent downstairs to the basement, it took 10 minutes to receive a drinks menu. When we finally ordered drinks and they arrived we asked to order our food quickly in-case the waitress didn't come back. The general atmosphere downstairs in the basement was uncomfortable as people waited for drinks and food which didn't seem to arrive.
When food did arrive the waitresses had mixed up the tables so had no idea who ordered what. This meant the waitresses had to ask each table whether the food was theirs. We could have forgiven this all if the food had been amazing but it was mediocre and the serving was not enough to fill the appetite of a hearty man. We also ordered two glasses of tap water (we are still waiting).
When we asked for the bill we were charged for the drinks drunk by the table next to us. The waitresses then spent some time discussing the mix up. Finally we pay and our card is originally charged with an incorrect amount. In conclusion we would not return and brought ourselves some nice cheesecake for pudding on the way home! We would not recommend!
Thought the place was nice , great atmosphere and the food wasgood. Thats the good part over I'm afraid - the service was pleasant but awful. We had to ask for a drinks list - that took 10 mins to arrive. Our order was taken for drinks , starters and main together.10 mins later we chased up our drinks ( 2 glasses wine and water )our starters then arrived ( no drinks! )30 seconds later our main course arrived!3 mins later ( after chasing again ) our drinks arrivedenjoyed wine and food , thought finish off with a brandy and coffee -run out of Brandy! I'm sure we will go back at some time , but I really hope Edinstake these points on board to make a much more enjoyable experience for clients.
