We visited today believing things might have improved from our last visit over a year ago. Sadly this was not to be the case!!!On entering the place didn't look particulary busy and our order was taken at the bar straightaway.Alarm bells started to ring when the people at the side of us went to the bar to ask where there order was, having placed it an hour before!!We waited patiently, at no time were we told there would be a delay with our order and after forty five minutes of waiting I asked a passing waitress if there was any problem with our order, to which I was told " its on the way!!"After an hour our starters arrived!!! A prawn cocktail and Chicken Liver Pate, both cold starters, so why on earth they took so long to prepare remains a mystery!!Our Main course arrived in good time, however the "Roast Chicken" had obviously been nuked in the microwave and was as tuff as leather, the chips had just been "blanched" and were virtually raw!!So, all in all a very unsatisfactory experience, the staff all looked throughly miserable and again, at no point were we offered any sort of apology for the length of time we had to wait or wished any sort of goodbye as we left!!

We arrived at the Broad Oak in the cold snow, as we entered the warmth from the heating and the warmth of friendliness surrounded us.

The staff are friendly, the atmosphere was great and the hot drinks and food was of the highest quality.

I would recommend anyone to go to this home style pub/restaurant.

The location and the non-family staff are it's plus points. This would be worth a 4-star rating at least if it wasn't for the arogance of the management.

Even their family troubles are aired in the public arena, not professional.

I am the manageress named in the above and take these comments as a personal attack on me, not an opinion regarding my pub. Anyone is welcome to visit the Broad Oak, where they will receive a warm welcome, good service and good food in a clean and friendly pub.

And by the way, we do have a cask marque, serving 3 different cask ales.

Please do visit us and form your own unbiased opinion.

Obviously either "anonymous" or some of the staff were having a bad day on the day of the visit. We have visited this restaurant several times and never found the staff to be other than courteous. There is a good choice of beers, the food is good (portions very generous) and have no hesitation in recommending this place. We live in Spain but visit Nottingham several times ayear and this is our eatery of choice in the area.

yeah i guess anonymous is a problem to a brit who goes to spain..... even the manageress is anonymous - the same who is accused of washing her laundry in public... also i guess you enjoy microwaved frozen food - and go to spain to get it and nottingham its not a problem but when you ask the staff they say it's not frozen and microwaved yet other pubs are honest - some of us dont have the option to get awayi give her a year at most!

if she survives i will make a donation to charity but i remember when the pub was full every night thursday-sunday and most of the day too.... now you're lucky if it's busy at all.it will be at christmas but it won't be in feb or march or april as she's killing the placepay or get a chef who can cook not microwave food and there were complaints about the beer at weekend, not from me but three others, even the manageress will tell you cos shes so professional she thinks it funny to slag those who complain and her staff behind their back... oh the stories she tells

I have visited the Broad oak over the christmas holidays while visiting family and friends in nottingham. I found the manageress and staff to be polite and couteous, nothing was too much trouble.

The food was traditional English pub fayre which is exactly what you would expect to find. I think its agreat place for families with young children. I would definately visit again.
