Music is the key at Maze with a huge range of bands and DJs to tickle your fancy and fine liquid refreshments to quench your thirst.

The Venue
Although a little bit off the beaten track, The Maze is well worth searching out due to its laidback atmosphere and great alternative club and live music nights. It sits at the back of the Forest Tavern, which is a traditional old boozer.

It's a cosy music venue, the sort of sweaty little den where live music was made to be played. As well as bands, Maze hosts DJs and stand-up comedy nights.

The People
The crowd that head to Maze largely depends on what's playing. Punks, rockers, folk-y sorts and all-round music fans turn up to mosh about and swill beer. Real-ale fans like it and students come here, too.

The fact that it has such diversity and has maintained a traditional feel, while constantly moving with the times, makes this a very special place. And it's not pretentious.

The Drinks
The bar has a wide selection of wines and spirits as well as bottled beer. The Maze also has a great range of real ales like Harvest Pale Ale and Wildlife.

There are three permanent ales on offer while a fourth guest ale changes regularly. Be sure to ask the friendly staff for details.

The Last Word
This is one of those places you’ll be glad you found. A comfortable environment with a good mix of people and music, it’s perfect if you’re looking for a venue of substance rather than pretence.
